MikroWizard Automatic Update & Registration System #
This document describes how MikroWizard validates software update requests, how the automatic and manual update mechanisms work, and what users must configure to ensure updates function properly. All MikroWizard editions (Free and Pro) receive updates without any payment or checkout process.
1. Overview #
The MikroWizard update engine securely communicates with mikrowizard.com to check for new releases. Updates are allowed only when:
- The user has registered the MikroWizard serial number on the official website.
- The user has entered the correct License Username inside the MikroWizard settings page.
Both values must match. If validation fails, the update process is blocked.
2. Registration Requirements #
2.1. Register Serial Number on Website #
Users must register their serial number using the following page:
https://mikrowizard.com/register-new-mikrowizard/
2.2. Enter “License Username” Inside MikroWizard #
Inside MikroWizard, navigate to:
Settings → License Username
Important: Do not confuse License Username with the fields Default Username or Default Password; those fields are unrelated to licensing.
3. Update Modes #
3.1. Automatic Update Mode #
- Checks for updates every hour.
- Automatically installs updates when registration is valid.
- Requires active internet access to mikrowizard.com.
- Errors are displayed in the dashboard if validation fails.
3.2. Manual Update Mode #
- Checks for updates every hour, but does not install them automatically.
- Displays an update notification in the dashboard when an update is available.
- User must press the update button to download and install the new version.
4. License & Registration Status Indicators #
MikroWizard displays licensing and registration status in the dashboard:
| Status | Description | Color |
|---|---|---|
| Registered | Serial number and License Username match | Green badge |
| Unregistered | Registration incomplete or internet connection issue | Red badge |
| Free | User has Free edition | Neutral |
| Pro | User has Pro edition | Neutral |
4.1. When Status Shows “Unregistered” #
This may indicate:
- Serial number was not registered on the website.
- The License Username in MikroWizard settings is incorrect.
- The server cannot reach mikrowizard.com.
- DNS or firewall restrictions are blocking the request.
5. Error Messages #
Error messages related to updates appear directly near the License Status section in the dashboard.
Common causes:
- Incorrect License Username.
- Unregistered serial number.
- Internet connectivity failure.
- Firewall blocking outbound traffic.
6. Security Model #
MikroWizard validates update requests using two data points:
- Serial Number
- License Username
This prevents unauthorized update requests, automated scraping, and redistribution from unverified clients. Only legitimate installations can download updates.
7. Supported Versions #
All MikroWizard versions are supported by the update system. Both Free and Pro installations receive updates using the same process.
